Going the Wrong Way?
Today's Thought: Apparent success means little if we are going in the wrong direction!

"I have taught you in the way of wisdom; I have led you in right paths" (Proverbs 4:11 NKJV).

Have you ever played on a sports team where someone on your team got the ball and began to take it in the wrong direction – to your team's distress and to the other team's delight? At that moment, it does not matter that great skill was demonstrated in the way that the ball was stolen or carried it to the goal. What matters is that your team was heading for the wrong goal in the first place!

As Christians, many of us live our lives shooting for the wrong goal. We may strive for the praise and recognition of men when all that matters for eternity is that we have pleased and honored God. When we come to the end of our brief life on this earth, it will not matter that we received trophies and accolades or even came into considerable wealth. No, none of this matters at all if we are going in the wrong way with our lives.

Too often, we allow the world, and not the Word, to set the agenda for our lives. God's Word says clearly, "And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever" (1 John 2:17). This world and all that is in it will pass away – don't you want to make sure you are shooting for the right goal in life?
