The Honorable Mike Huckabee, 44th Governor of Arkansas, truly deserves to be the recipient of the Distinguished Christian Statesman Award conferred by the D. James Kennedy Center for Christian Statesmanship in Washington, DC. A true Christian statesman, he served as Arkansas’s governor from 1996 through 2007. He was one of the youngest governors in the country at that time. He was recognized nationally for his leadership, having been honored by several renowned publications and organizations for his numerous accomplishments. Time magazine honored him as one of the five best governors in America. He also served as the Chairman of the prestigious National Governors Association.
After an early career in broadcasting and advertising, Gov. Huckabee spent 12 yeas as a pastor and denominational leader. He became the youngest president ever of the Arkansas Southern Baptist State Convention.
A prolific author, Gov. Huckabee has published nine books of which four have been on the New York Times best seller list. He is also an avid musician, playing the bass guitar in his rock-and-roll band, Capitol Offense, that has opened for singers such as Willie Nelson and has performed at two presidential inaugural balls and at two Republican National Conventions.
Recently he received the NRB Board of Directors Award for his integrity, creativity, and impact on society. Dr. Frank Wright, NRB President and CEO, said this of the award recipient, “Gov.
